Solar activity reached moderate levels due to an isolated M1/1n flare at 15/0251 UTC from Region 3140 (N25W76, Ekc/beta-gamma). Region 3140 underwent some spot consolidation and decreased in magnetic complexity, however, it also produced occasional C-class flares. Region 3141 (N14W69, Cso/beta) continued slow decay in the trailer section and was inactive. Region 3145 (N25W60, Dso/beta) underwent some growth in leader section, but was otherwise inactive. Region 3146 (N33E03, Cro/beta) changed little.
The solar kp index is quiet, with no changes to retrograde effects. The solar wind speed is currently normal.
Solar wind parameters were indicative of a return to a slow, but mildly enhanced regime. Total IMF strength was primarily 4-5 nT and the Bz component underwent only weak deviations. Solar wind speed decreased to ~400 km/s and the phi angle was predominantly negative.
There is a 30% chance of solar activity, with a 10% chance of a minor event, a 1% chance of a moderate event, and a 1% chance of a strong event.
