Solar activity was low. Region 3089 (S22W20, Ekc/beta-gamma-delta) grew in area while becoming more magnetically complex. The region produced occasional C-class flares, the largest of which was a C4.3/Sf flare at 31/0750 UTC. Region 3090 (N16W19, Axx/alpha) consisted of a single, immature spot and was inactive. A new area of flux and spot development emerged on the E limb near S10.
The solar kp index is active, reinforcing retrograde effects. The solar wind speed is high, making retrograde effects significantly increased!
The solar wind environment trended towards background levels throughout the day. Field strength was elevated at the beginning of the day around 8 nT, declined to around 6 nT toward midday, but then became elevated to near 8 nT by days end. The Bz component was mostly neutral, but did show more rotation to -8 nT late in the day. Wind speed peaked at 611 km/s but relaxed to around 500 km/s by the end of the day. The phi angle was mostly negative.
